10/10/2006 Family Update

Hello all!

Our week has gone well and it ended with a great weekend.

Pugs in the Park was this past Sunday at Denver's City Park.  It is an annual gathering of pug owners and their pugs to benefit the Colorado Pug Rescue.  We had a ton of fun.  There are various events with one being a costume contest.  Satchel dressed up as a little pumpkin and Tweetie was a Firedog.  They didn't win, but we had many people tell us how cute they are- which is the ultimate compliment!

We ran into our emergency veterinarian who we have (unfortunately) visited several times.  She is the one who operated on the pugs when they swallowed nails a year and a half ago.  Because she also has a pug she remembered us.  Some of the vet techs at the animal hospital found the pug's MySpace accounts and printed out Tweetie's picture which is now proudly hung on our vet's office door.  Quite an honor!  It was nice to talk to her.  Her pug, Vinnie won the costume contest for "most original" dressed as Albert Einstein.

There was also a lot of pug merchandise there which we delightfully scoured.  We came across a really neat drawing of a pug from an artist in England, we just HAD to have it, so we bought it.  There were many other vendors there with pug stuff.  We grabbed a business card from each one so we could browse their goods online.  We also bought a bunch of raffle tickets.  We got 26 tickets for $20 and had our numbers called 5 times!  Needless to say, we were thrilled.  We came home with tons of doggie treats, toys and some people goodies too- like a couple of calendars and pillow.

Last year's Pugs in the Park was held at a different venue further up north of Denver.  The weather didn't cooperate as it was rainy and cold.  This year the weather was perfect!  The event could not have gone any better.

In other news, Susan has begun listing again on eBay.  It was difficult to get back into the swing of things as the Microsoft Word she was using on our old computer is different than the Word on the new one (this program is used a lot when she lists).  She is going to try and list gift type items in the coming months to capitalize on the holiday season.  I am confident that she will be very successful.

We recently found out that our resident Pomeranian/Chihuahua mix Molly's birthday is October 23rd.  It is hard to believe she is almost a year old as she is still so tiny!  She has decided to start using the training pad in the kitchen on occasion which we are very happy about.  We love having her around.

We are really looking forward to visiting Georgia at Thanksgiving.  Susan recently ordered two Sherpa bags from
petsmart.com for the pugs that we will put the pugs in during our flights.  As soon as the bags arrive we are going to start getting the pups accustomed to the little bags.  It will be a lot of fun having them along.

We have also been doing a lot of organizing around our condo.  It's so easy to put off and so we did... until now.  We spent all afternoon Saturday on our bedroom closet.  We are happy to report that it is much cleaner now and our local Goodwill now has two large 55 gallon trash bags full of donations.  We can't wait to start on our den!

As Satchel lies beside me snoring very loudly, I am reminded of the late hour and realize that we must head to bed!  Hope everyone is having a good week!

Love,  Max & Susan
